History

The Tower of Tokyo or Tokyo Tower (in Japanese: 東京 タ ワ ー, Tōkyō Tawā) is a tower that is in Minato-ku (Tokyo, Japan). It is painted in white and red according to aviation regulations. Its construction was completed on October 14, 1958 (year 33 of the Shōwa era) and was opened to the public on December 23 of the same year.

The tower measures 332.6 meters in height, 8.6 more than the Eiffel Tower, although it is not as well known as the French building. It weighs about 4000 tons, unlike the 10 100 metric tons of the Eiffel Tower. Its main function is as an antenna for transmitting analog signals, and since 2003 it transmits digitally for the Kanto area. It is one of the main tourist attractions in Tokyo.

Today the Tokyo Tower is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Japanese capital. At the base of the tower we find the space FootTown, where to eat or drink, buy souvenirs and see some of the exhibitions that are organized there. From FootTown is where we must take the elevator to reach the main observatory, 150 meters hig

In the main observatory, composed of two floors, we can have a drink in Café La Tour and Club333 Stage cafés, buy a souvenir, place ourselves on the glass floor (Lookdown Window) or make a prayer in the sanctuary of the tower located in the upper floor of the main observatory.

From the main observatory, we can pay an extra and go up to the special observatory, 250 meters high from where you can enjoy wonderful 360 degree views of the city of Tokyo.

Iluminaciones

Tokyo Tower has two types of exterior lighting: the Landmark Light (Land Diamond Diamond Diamond y y y) and the Diamond Veil (Diamond Diamond Diamond Diamond ル ル ル).

The Landmark Light is traditional lighting and has 180 bulbs and an orange touch in winter and whitish in summer to the tower, while on Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm to 10pm (plus some national holidays), the Tokyo Tower lights up following the design of the Diamond Veil lighting, a special lighting that can show up to 7 different colors and change according to the season or event that you want to promote.
